SWAMP stands for Schistosomiasis in West-Uganda: Analysis and Mapping of Prevalence. SWAMP is a 9-month project, where researchers from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) and the KU Leuven collaborate. The project idea emerged through existing collaborations with MUST and the Biology and Earth Science department of the RMCA in the framework of the ATRAP project (2019-2023). SWAMP is financed by the KU Leuven Global Minds program. For more information regarding SWAMP's objectives and methodologies, please contact: liesbet.jacobs@kuleuven.be.

Within SWAMP we want to lay the groundwork for ATRAP by identifying regions which are highly affected by schistosomiasis prevalence, identifying potential citizen scientists within ATRAP and unraveling the structure of data-collection and exchange regarding schistosomiasis risk monitoring and reduction.
